Road Trip!

I'm sorry I suck at posting new stuff! I didn't even post about my vacation in NYC. I figured since the trip was in the middle of June, my statute of limitations on blogging about past events has elapsed. Just a short note about the trip... it was a blast, full of me hunting down awesome hip used bookstores.

I took at mini road trip last month! I drove to Tennessee all by myself!! Here's why:

Chris finished his MERP classes in Miami at the end of July and passed them all! With his passing grades, he got his official acceptance to the Ross University School of Medicine! Although the school is in the Caribbean, it's still a medical school, so Chris and I were both excited about him finally starting med school!

From Miami, Chris drove to his family's home in Chatanooga to spend time with his family and to get stuff done before leaving. He had to get so many medical tests and vaccinations! Stores on Dominica aren't going to have all the stuff Chris is going to need; and if they did, the prices are going to be so expensive. While in TN, he got all the school supplies, toiletries, and other stuff he's going to need for, essentially, the next 16 months. He also got some random non-sense, like bear mace, a hunting knife, these shoes (in red) and a camelbak water backpack thing. And he got spacebags so he could shrink his pillows and bedding.

There was no way Chris could fly back to Florida with all of his stuff, and he couldn't drive himself back to WPB because he would be stranding his truck. The plan Chris and I came up with would be for me to drive to TN and get him. Not only would I get Chris, but I could finally visit his mom in TN. She had been inviting me to TN for the past 5 years, and I never took her up on it. So this trip would kill two birds with one stone!

I made a pitstop in Gainesville to see Walf and Sarah! So much fun! I love girl talk! Sarah was nice enough to let me crash at her new house! I also hung out with work friends!

I've never driven past Gainesville on my own, so I was kinda nervous. I kept thinking that my car would get a flat tire! But I made it through Florida, and then through crazy, traffic-y Atlanta! I was so happy when I pulled into Chris's driveway! I made it to Tennessee all by myself! And even while scribbling down on paper a lot of cool songs I heard on SiriusXM, I didn't crash!

Chris and I hung out for a few days, just being with each other and doing last minute errands. One morning we went rafting with his family!! We had the coolest raft guide who did crazy tricks with the raft! We went down a Class 4 rapid (5 is the highest) and I actually flew out of the raft! It took a few seconds before anyone in the raft noticed that I was gone! And the water was cold!

Chris and I left early on a Sunday morning and drove straight to Wellington. We did stop to go shopping in Orlando though! Yeah outlet malls! We got back to Wellington a little before midnight. Chris and I had so much fun driving together! We laughed and talked and sang and danced along to the radio! We even "planned" a cross-country road trip of our dreams! We held hands almost the whole time.
