Earlier in the year, around Easter-time, all Borders stores had to sell stuffed animal bunnies named Pickles. I don't really know why we had to sell Pickles. Maybe as an add-on for customers wanting to stuff Easter baskets. Whatev. Any store that sold all of them within a set time period would be rewarded with a party. And our store did it! We earned a party!
A couple weeks later was Educators Appreciation Week. Any current or former teacher/professor/instructor would be able to get 30% off everything in the store. Any store that made more than $X off of educators over the week would get a party. And once again, or store came out victorious so we earned another party.
So rather than having two small parties, we combined them into one big party... a bowling party! Managers decided to have it on my last day of work so it could be a going away party as well!
The shindig went down at Splitz Bowling Alley at 10pm. We got the private VIP partyroom area! Four lanes all for us with lasers and music and food! Everyone came out and it was a blast! Sadly, Borders wouldn't pay for our alcohol, so we had to pay for our own pitchers. Everyone that works at Borders are alcoholics, so there were so many pitchers everywhere! Of course I joined in on the fun! As the night progressed and we got more intoxicated, some of us started a new game called "Unconventional Bowling". We tried bowling between our legs, while sitting, laying down, sideways, opposite handed. I tried bowling behind my back and ended up throwing the ball down the lane next to ours! I'm surprised no one kicked us out! I haven't had that much fun is such a long time. I laughed so hard it hurt to breathe!
Our night ended at 1:00 and that's when I really said my goodbyes to everyone. We were all drunk and happy, and I think because of that I didn't cry like earlier. I think it also helped that I was going to be back in Gainesville in two weeks, so it was kind of like a see you later.
So totally going to remember Borders bowling night for a very long time!
