Valentine's Day

This was the first Valentine's Day Chris and I didn't share together. With him on Dominica and me here, I didn't expect anything. I mean, I expected maybe an e-card from Hallmark.com, but that was it. I joked around with him saying that I was going to buy my own flowers and dessert and have a mopey V-day by myself. He said that was stupid and that I shouldn't waste money on flowers and that I eat too much junk. So yeah, I wasn't expecting anything from him this year.

Since I had no Valentine's date, I was scheduled to work all day. But I did look cute - I wore red and put a flower in my hair and painted my nails. A customer gave me $5! And one of the guys who does maintenance around the store gave me chocolates and a hug! Some guys from work asked if I wanted to hang out, kind of like a Lonely Hearts party, but I said I had a Skype date.

I ended up buying a bouquet of Gerber daisies (my favorite flowers) and a heart-shaped cookie cake from our bakery. Kinda lame, I know. When I got home, I went into the kitchen to start eating my cookie and mom asked if I went in my room. I hadn't, so I went in then, and on my desk were two bouquets of tulips and violets and daisies. When I saw that they were from Chris, I started crying and laughing. Crying because I missed him and that the flowers were beautiful, and laughing because I was completely surprised that Mr. Flowers-are-stupid actually sent me flowers in the mail on Valentine's Day!

Mom told me that she emailed Chris earlier in the month to see if he was planning on doing anything for me and if he needed help. She asked if he needed her to pick up flowers or something, but he said he already took care of everything in January before he left to go back to school. Chris told her to be on the lookout for the flower delivery.

I can't believe I doubted him. He's so tricky!
