A. Twilight
Last Friday I had to work the Twilight: New Moon DVD midnight release party. The event started at 10:oo and I was surprised at the different types of fangirls who showed up. There were tweens, teens, and even some college-aged girls and Twi-moms. I'm not such a Twilight fan and I didn't see the New Moon movie so I was worried about what I was getting myself into. Luckily, there was Heather. She's weird and into Twilight and totally ran the show. She even came to work in costume, including creepy contact lens and a tail. Yes, she had a wolf-tail belt thing which she attached to her skirt and wore the whole day.
Heather did everything and I just stood around talking to Derrick. She led the Vampire-vs.-Werewolf debate and asked the trivia questions. My only job was to walk around and hand out little cups of hot chocolate.
Ha! I just remembered... funny little story! Before the party, a bunch of us were hanging out at info, and Kiel (like Kyle) walked over and pretended to stab a pencil in his eye. Apparently, there was a middle aged guy sitting on a foot stool in the Business section reading a book. But it was the way he was sitting... with his legs spread apart and his elbows on his knees holding the book. Kiel said he was able to see the man's junk! So, it was like half an hour later and I was walking around with the tray of hot chocolates and I come to the Business section and the guy is still there, sitting in that position, and I see a little bit of his testicles! It was like I couldn't look away! There was a magnet pulling my eyeballs up into his crotch! Oh my god! So gross! And I don't think the guy even knew what was up! Gag!
Anyways... midnight came, the Twilight people cheered, and we sold them the DVD. I didn't get home until nearly 1:00.
B. Teachers
Borders is in the middle of it's Educators Appreciation Week (EAW) event and on Saturday I had to work the special EAW reception. In other words, I got to sit on a comfy chair for four hours and ask everyone who walked into the store if they were a current or retired educator. If they were, I had to give them a special raffle ticket, show them where we had free coffee and desserts, and make sure they new about the 30% discount. So easy! I had my special chair and my special table and occationally co-workers would come by to hang out and talk to me.
C. Shopping
Thanks Amy for the "Give and Get" coupon! I so totally went shopping hard core! It was like I reverted back to high school Nicki again and just blacked out while shopping. I went to Old Navy and got skirts, a dress, cardigans, blouses, and shirts. Nothing from Banana Republic. Then I went to The Gap and got a cute shirt. While I was in the fitting room, I noticed that the shirt I was wearing was sorta see-thru and you could see that I was wearing a hot pink bra! Yikes! Since I was at the mall, I figured I could stop by American Eagle and see if I could find something to go with my new Old Navy skirts! I ended up getting undies (5 for $15) and tank tops. The tanks were really cute and came in so many colors and I couldn't make up my mind as to which color I wanted, so I got 4! WHAT! I was ready to head over to Forever 21 but the mall was closing and I had to go home. When I spread everything I bought on my bed, I couldn't believe how much I got! Nothing I got really went well with the skirts, so I'm going to have to go out again!
D. Shooting Guns
Chris and I both had days off today and I wanted to do something special with him. He's leaving in 17 days and I was hoping to have a fun afternoon with him. I was thinking of doing something spontaneous, like driving to Orlando, or Busch Gardens, or the beach. Chris said it was too late in the afternoon to do anything like that. So it looked like it would be a lame afternoon at home. But lo-and-behold, Chris's friend Robert called, asking if he wanted to go skeet shooting with him. Here's our crazy, spontaneous afternoon adventure! We drove to I don't know where and pulled up to Gator Skeet and Trap Shooting, and we found that it was closed. Plan B: in-door firing range out in Micanopy. I shot a gun once with Chris and his mom and her boyfriend a while ago, and it was scary! I was ok with the skeet shooting because going to be outside and with rifles and not as scary. But shooting revolvers and handguns in this concrete bunker was a different thing. Chris and Robert rented me a little .22mm thing. I shot it 5 times and freaked out. It was loud and shot fire and I didn't like it. The boys got this 5-pound huge revolver with a super scope. That thing shot fire out of both ends and made my brain vibrate when it was shot. So totally don't like guns!
So this has been my last couple of days.
Nicki, you are too cute for words. BUT you would like shotguns - promise. (not rifles hehe) If you ever want to go, call me and MJ up and we'll set up a day to go. The range is open Wed, Fri, Sat, and Sun. :)
