Borders Freakin Owes Me!

If everyone at work didn't think I was nuts already, they probably think I am now. My shift was 10-6:15 yesterday and Farah was scheduled to come in at 6:15 and close (11pm for Friday). She didn't show up at 6:15, or 6:30, so I assumed she was just running late. I asked my manager what was going on at like 6:45, and that's when she said that Farah wasn't answering her phone and that she'll probably be a no-show. Manager asked if I could stay until close, since I was still on the clock. I thought about just saying, "Sorry, I've done my shift and now I'm going home." but instead I said sure. I want my managers to remember this, so in the event that I want a couple days off or show up late or want to leave early, I have some leverage. So I worked from 10am to 11:15pm (with 2 one-hour breaks). All my other co-works said that they would have never stayed. I figured what's another 4 hours. That's about $30 dollars extra in my paycheck.

On top of pulling a rounder yesterday, I came in on my day off today and covered the shift of another co-worker who couldn't work. Heather was supposed to work today, but her family made a surprise visit to Gainesville. Heather called late last night about not being able to come, but guess who was there to lend a helping hand. I worked from 10am to 3:30 today, adding another $37.50 to my paycheck.

But I did get to use my 40%-off Borders Rewards coupon. I got Michael Chabon's "The Yiddish Policemen's Union". I liked Kav and Clay, so I have high hopes for Yiddish.
